One of the most popular scuba diving sites in Sunshine Coast is Jew Shoal, located in Noosa''s pristine Laguna Bay. This site boasts an impressive array of marine life, including angelfish, butterflyfish, surgeonfish, globefish, rabbitfish, soapfish, morwong, sweetlip, and bream. Divers can explore the site''s caves, gutters, walls, and crevices, which are adorned with colorful hard and soft corals. Seasonal visitors, such as manta rays and grey nurse sharks, also make an appearance from time to time.
Old Woman Island, located off Mudjimba, is another popular dive site that boasts beautiful coral gardens and an array of tropical fish. Its shallow waters make it an ideal site for beginners, while its sheltered location is perfect for snorkeling.
The Inner Gneerings, located just offshore from Mooloolaba, is a comprehensive coral network that offers numerous dive spots, including Hanging Rock, the Pinnacles, Wobby Rock, and Fairyland. The area is adorned with soft corals, black coral trees, and white coral whips, and is home to a variety of marine life, including rays, turtles, moray eels, wobbegongs, and leopard sharks.
The Outer Gneering Shoals, which is approximately 18 meters deep, features clear visibility of up to 15 meters. This site is a must-visit for anyone with a passion for coral, as it boasts an impressive diversity of sea life, including angels, wrasse, butterfly fish, baitfish, and urchins.
Magic Mountain, a site on the Outer Gneerings Reef, is a more advanced dive site that features complex structures formed by rocky outcrops. The site is home to a variety of fish, including morwong, wrasse, leatherjackets, batfish, bullseyes, butterfly fish, and angelfish, as well as numerous urchins, nudibranchs, anemones, and crustaceans.
