The Hike Collective, a tourism accredited and eco-certified hiking tour company, invites you to join them on a 6.5 km hiking tour through the breathtaking Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary in the Darling Range of Greater Perth, WA. This sanctuary is located on the western margin of the ancient Yilgarn Block, which formed over 2.5 billion years ago, and is characterized by steep slopes, numerous streams, and creeklines, and areas of exposed granite.
Your ticket includes entrance to the private sanctuary, a guided hike of the Quenda trail, historical stories and secrets of the area, and personalized recommendations for local cafes and restaurants. The Hike Collective is committed to providing high-quality hiking tour experiences, ensuring that you can enjoy your hike with peace of mind.
The hike will take you through King Jarrah and Marri forrest, over to the Paruna gorge, and along the steep slopes, with lots of stairs. This hike is not for the faint-hearted, considered a ''ORANGE'' trail, it will test your fitness, endurance, and strength. A moderate level of fitness is recommended, however, it is a great place to start a climbing based hike.
To prepare for the hike, wear comfortable clothes and sturdy trainers or hiking boots, and bring plenty of water, snacks, a personal first aid kit, and a camera. The trail difficulty is grade three, recommended for those with a moderate level of fitness.
Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary is located 6.5km east of Toodyay Road on Avon Road. To get there, head up Toodyay road and turn left onto From O''Brien Rd. Drive for 17kms where you will reach Avon Road, and turn left. This turn is 2.3km after Ewing Road. Paruna Sanctuary is signposted and down a gravel track to the carpark.
