Experience the beauty and history of Sydney Harbour with a scenic cruise aboard the 121-year-old steamer, Waratah, offered by Sydney Heritage Fleet in Greater Sydney, NSW. This two and a half hour cruise is the perfect way to spend a leisurely Sunday, bringing along a picnic lunch and beverages of your choice while discovering the fascinating sights and stories of the harbour.
Waratah was built at Cockatoo Island, one of the many historic sites you''ll see on this cruise, along with Goat, Spectacle, and Snapper Islands. You''ll also pass by Mort''s Dock and Woolwich Dock, which catered to the ships of yesteryear, with an experienced tour guide providing interesting background information.
The cruise departs from the Northern end of Pirrama Park in Pyrmont at 12noon sharp, so be sure to arrive by 11:45am for boarding. Dress warmly and wear sensible footwear, as the breeze can be cool on the harbour. Stilettos and sharp-heeled shoes are strictly prohibited.
Getting to the pier is easy, with various transportation options available, including walking from Town Hall station across the historic Pyrmont Bridge, taking the Pyrmont Bay ferry from Wharf 5 at Circular Quay, or catching the Light Rail from Central Station. Parking is also available at Jones Bay Wharf Car Park, a 5-minute walk from Pirrama Park.
